OpenFiskal only detects a register once it has processed a sale. If nothing has been sold on the device yet, for example a new iPad or Android tablet, make a sale or a test sale on it in Shopify POS and the register will appear under “Registers”. If the register was in use before and has since been deactivated, click “Search registers” at the top right. OpenFiskal checks your POS orders from the last 14 days for register IDs that aren’t in the list yet and adds them. ### 2. Why does Shopify POS still say “TSE inactive” after switching to OpenFiskal? The “TSE inactive” message comes from the Shopify TSE app and disappears once you uninstall it. || Before you uninstall the Shopify TSE app, run a backup export in it and save the file on your computer. How do I fiscalize a new register? The steps are the same for your first register and for any register you add later, such as a second iPad. 1. In the OpenFiskal app, open “Registers” and click “Add registers”. 2. On the new device, complete a quick sale in Shopify POS. Any product works, or a custom sale for €0. 3. Back in the OpenFiskal app, wait for the new register to appear in the list. The screen refreshes on its own once the sale is completed. Click “Done”. 4. Select the new register. 5. Click “Fiscalize registers”. OpenFiskal assigns a TSE to the register and puts it into operation. Once that’s done, report the register to the tax office as described in [5. What do I need to do after fiscalizing a register?](#3-5-what-do-i-need-to-do-after-fiscalizing-a-register) ### 4. Do I need an extra subscription or setup for a second register? Each register you fiscalize comes with its own subscription, since pricing is per fiscalized register. You don’t need Shopify POS Pro to stay compliant. POS Lite is enough to print compliant receipts and to use the cash book. What you set up on the new register depends on how you print receipts. If you print with OpenFiskal, add the receipt extension on the new register too, because it’s set up register by register. If you print with Shopify and added the code snippet under “Default (all locations)”, it already covers the new register. The difference between the two printing methods is explained in [6. How do I print receipts with the TSE QR code?](#3-6-how-do-i-print-receipts-with-the-tse-qr-code) ### 5. What do I need to do after fiscalizing a register? Report the register to the tax office. The report is mandatory and the deadline is one month. We recommend doing it right after you fiscalize the register, so it doesn’t slip. The simplest way is our separate [Meldefluss app](https://apps.shopify.com/meldefluss). With the manual basic report, it creates an XML file that you or your tax advisor upload to ELSTER, and a video in the app walks you through the steps. If you’d rather not handle the upload yourself, the app can also send the report to ELSTER directly as a paid option. How do I print receipts with the TSE QR code? You can print with Shopify or with OpenFiskal. Both give you compliant receipts and work on POS Lite and POS Pro, so the choice comes down to which receipt editor and template you prefer. ###### Print with Shopify Available in Germany and Austria. You use Shopify’s own receipt editor, which has the most customization options and is native Shopify functionality, with no extension needed. To show the TSE QR code, you copy a code snippet from the OpenFiskal app and add it to the receipt footer as a “Custom Liquid” block, under “Default (all locations)”. Step-by-step instructions are in [Display TSE / RKSV QR codes on printed Shopify receipts](https://help.openfiskal.com/en/article/new-display-tse-rksv-qr-codes-on-printed-shopify-receipts-nno1ry/). ###### Print with OpenFiskal OpenFiskal’s editor is simpler to use and doesn’t involve any code: you add our post-checkout receipt extension and you’re ready to print. The extension shows the receipt QR code and a button to print the receipt. You can print on a thermal receipt printer, with “Auto-print” for sales, returns and exchange receipts if you want it, or on an A4 printer. A4 receipts are only possible when you print with OpenFiskal. To customize your logo, header and footer in OpenFiskal’s editor, you need OpenFiskal Plus. ###### If the QR code doesn’t appear With Print with Shopify, wait about 60 seconds after saving the snippet before printing, or fully close and reopen Shopify POS. The QR code also needs Shopify POS version 11.10 or later. With Print with OpenFiskal, check that the receipt extension is added on the register you’re printing from. ### 7. How do I add the QR code to Shopify receipt emails? You can show the TSE QR code, and a link to the PDF receipt, in Shopify customer emails such as “POS and mobile receipt”.
