How to show the receipt QR code in Shopify POS

The Receipts extension by OpenFiskal adds two buttons to the Shopify POS checkout screen: Print and Show QR Code. Enable it once in the Shopify admin, then use it on any completed order. This feature does not require POS Pro, so it's helpful for merchants that cannot edit the receipt template (which requires POS Pro) or just want to offer 100% digital receipts.

Enable the extension in the Shopify admin

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin. Go to Sales Channels > Point of Sale.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Scroll to find the "Customization" box and click POS App.
  4. Click the 3rd icon in the top-left corner to be taken to the Apps page
  5. Find the OpenFiskal app and click on the slider to switch our extension ON (as shown in the screenshot).
  6. Click Save in the top-right corner.

Show the QR code at checkout in Shopify POS

  1. Complete a sale in Shopify POS. The checkout screen will load OpenFiskal Receipts extension.
  2. Tap Show QR Code to display it on screen. Hand the device to the customer or turn the screen towards them. They scan the code to open the receipt on their phone, and save it if they'd like to. Tap Close when they are done.

If the OpenFiskal Receipts extension does not appear after checkout on Shopify POS

Work through these in order.

  • The extension is not saved in the admin. Reopen Point of Sale > Settings and confirm the change was saved, not just selected.
  • The POS app is holding an old configuration. Close the Shopify POS app completely and reopen it.
  • The POS app is out of date. Update it from the App Store or Google Play, then check again.
