Getting started

1. Get the Fisconline credentials

Mandatory. OpenFiskal transmits your sales data to the Agenzia delle Entrate on your behalf. To do this, it needs the Fisconline credentials (tax code, password and 10-digit PIN) of the legal representative or of a gestore incaricato (appointed operator), for example your accountant. If you don't have them, you can request them in a few minutes.

2. Activate OpenFiskal

Mandatory. On first launch the app is in test mode: you can explore it, but it doesn't transmit anything to the Agenzia delle Entrate. To switch to live mode:

Open OpenFiskal from your Shopify admin and click "Activate Live" in the top right.
Choose the subscription plan and complete the payment.

Insert fiscal QR code or a link to the PDF receipt in POS receipt emails and invoices

Accepted Answer

With this feature, you can display the fiscal QR code or, additionally, the link to the OpenFiskal PDF receipt in Shopify emails and/or, for example, Order Printer Pro invoices as soon as a checkout is completed at a fiscalized cash register with a customer email address.

This ensures that customers can see the legally required fiscal information (e.g., TSE QR code) in digital receipts (POS receipt emails or PDF invoices) and can open and save the complete receipt as a PDF.

Background

In Germany (KassenSichV) and Austria (RKSV), certain fiscal information must also be included in electronically provided receipts.

You can now do the following directly in the OpenFiskal app in the Settings area:

Choose between the Shopify emailor the Order Printer Pro invoice.
Generate the appropriate embed code and insert it directly into the template.
Additionally, insert the link to the OpenFiskal receipt (PDF).

Steps:

1. Copy the code in the OpenFiskal app

Go to the OpenFiskal app → Dashboard/Settings. 2. Choose the embedding type:
Shopify emails (e.g., POS receipt email)
Order Printer Pro template (for PDF invoices & packing slips)
Click on Copy Code.
A confirmation will appear: Code copied.

Handoff by OpenFiskal for SumUp

Accepted Answer

This guide explains step by step how Handoff is used to automatically transfer cart total amounts from Shopify POS to SumUp Solo card terminals.

| Note: Handoff does not interfere with the Shopify POS checkout. OpenFiskal does not process payments. Payments are handled by SumUp and must still be manually marked as paid in the Shopify POS checkout.

Requirements

Active SumUp account
SumUp Solo card terminal

1. Activate Handoff

Activate Handoff so that cart total amounts are automatically sent to the connected SumUp card terminals. After activation, amounts from the checkout are transferred directly to the respective card terminal. Manual input on the terminal is no longer required.

2. Connect the SumUp account

Connect an existing SumUp account or create a new account. Enter the login details and complete the connection process. After a successful connection, the available card terminals can be accessed.

3. Add the OpenFiskal POS extension

Install the POS extension “OpenFiskal”. After installation, complete one checkout in Shopify POS to ensure the extension is properly initialized.

Add POS UI extension “Print Z-Reports” to your POS app for displaying and printing Z-reports

To view and print Z-reports directly in the Shopify POS app, you must first enable the POS UI extension “Print Z-Reports” in the Shopify admin. This can be done in a few steps and is a prerequisite for viewing and printing Z-reports directly on your iPad or Android device.

Steps to enable the extension:

Log in to your POS app/Shopify admin area.
Go to Sales Channels > Point of Sale in the menu.
Click on “Settings” at the top.
Scroll down to “POS App”.
Under “App Tiles”, click on “Add Tile”.
Select “Print Z-Reports” and save.

| The tile is now active in your POS app and visible on the home screen.

Access in the POS app (after activation):

Once the extension is active, you can retrieve and print Z reports as follows:

Open the Shopify POS app.
Tap the new “Print Z Reports” tile.
Select the desired session.
Tap “Print Options” > “Z-report Print Preview”.
Print via AirPrint (iOS) or compatible Android printers.

|| Note: Printing via a receipt printer (e.g., Epson TM-m30) is not possible, as Shopify currently only supports sales receipts on these printers.

Migrating from the Shopify TSE (KassenSichV) App to OpenFiskal

This guide walks you step by step through migrating from the TSE/KassenSichV App to the OpenFiskal App. It is important to carefully complete all steps to meet legal requirements and ensure a smooth transition. ⚠️ POS Pro is required for using the OpenFiskal TSE.

Step 1: Deactivating the Shopify TSE App

1.1 Close open POS sessions

Please close all active sessions on each of your Shopify POS devices.
Otherwise, exports will not include data from open sessions.

1.2 Deactivate all TSE locations

Log in to your Shopify account and go to the settings of the TSE/KassenSichV App.
Deactivate all active TSE locations to properly finalize the app.

1.3 Export all TSE data

Make sure to select the entire relevant time period before exporting.
Save the data securely — by law, it must be retained for 10 years.
If you’re unsure when you installed the Shopify TSE App, you can use April 1, 2021 as the start date (from this date, all retailers in Germany had to comply with TSE/KassenSichV requirements).

Background

In Shopify POS, you can customize receipts either in the visual editor or in the code editor. Dimensions: width 400px and height 200px.

Step-by-step instructions:

Open the receipt customization
In the Shopify admin, go to: POS sales channel -> Settings -> Receipts -> “Customize your receipts” (or via the OpenFiskal app -> Receipts -> Printed receipts -> Open receipt editor).
First in the visual editor: upload the logo in the header area (dimensions: width 400px and height 200px).

Then open the code editor with blue link in left panel:

Check the location in the top right corner.
Then click on the “reset” icon in the header.liquid template (if you want to add something to the footer, reset the footer.liquid as well)
Select “Switch to visual editor.”
