With this feature, you can display the fiscal QR code or, additionally, the link to the OpenFiskal PDF receipt in Shopify emails and/or, for example, Order Printer Pro invoices as soon as a checkout is completed at a fiscalized cash register with a customer email address.

This ensures that customers can see the legally required fiscal information (e.g., TSE QR code) in digital receipts (POS receipt emails or PDF invoices) and can open and save the complete receipt as a PDF.

Background

In Germany (KassenSichV) and Austria (RKSV), certain fiscal information must also be included in electronically provided receipts.

You can now do the following directly in the OpenFiskal app in the Settings area:

Choose between the Shopify emailor the Order Printer Pro invoice.
Generate the appropriate embed code and insert it directly into the template.
Additionally, insert the link to the OpenFiskal receipt (PDF).

Go to the OpenFiskal app → Dashboard/Settings. 2. Choose the embedding type:

This guide walks you step by step through migrating from the TSE/KassenSichV App to the OpenFiskal App. It is important to carefully complete all steps to meet legal requirements and ensure a smooth transition. ⚠️ POS Pro is required for using the OpenFiskal TSE.

Step 1: Deactivating the Shopify TSE App

1.1 Close open POS sessions

Please close all active sessions on each of your Shopify POS devices.
Otherwise, exports will not include data from open sessions.

1.2 Deactivate all TSE locations

Log in to your Shopify account and go to the settings of the TSE/KassenSichV App.
Deactivate all active TSE locations to properly finalize the app.

1.3 Export all TSE data

Make sure to select the entire relevant time period before exporting.
Save the data securely — by law, it must be retained for 10 years.
If you’re unsure when you installed the Shopify TSE App, you can use April 1, 2021 as the start date (from this date, all retailers in Germany had to comply with TSE/KassenSichV requirements).

Step-by-step instructions:

Open the receipt customization
In the Shopify admin, go to: POS sales channel -> Settings -> Receipts -> “Customize your receipts” (or via the OpenFiskal app -> Receipts -> Printed receipts -> Open receipt editor).
First in the visual editor: upload the logo in the header area (dimensions: width 400px and height 200px).

Then open the code editor with blue link in left panel:

Check the location in the top right corner.
Then click on the “reset” icon in the header.liquid template (if you want to add something to the footer, reset the footer.liquid as well)
Select “Switch to visual editor.”

This integration ensures that the TSE data and QR codes from OpenFiskal automatically appear on your Rechnungsprinter Pro invoices as soon as a fiscalised POS transaction is completed at your POS location.

What does the integration do?

The integration connects your OpenFiskal account to Rechnungsprinter Pro, the invoicing and accounting platform from Pathway Solutions. Once the OpenFiskal key has been stored and the integration activated, the TSE information automatically appears on all new invoices and credit notes in the form of a QR code.

It is not possible to transfer the existing fiscalization directly—the old cash register must be properly decommissioned before it can be re-fiscalized with OpenFiskal.

Migration process:

Prepare for decommissioning
The existing cash register must be decommissioned before it can be put back into operation.
This is done at the end of the last month. If no final receipt can be generated, the annual receipt (e.g., closing 2025) is also sufficient.

Data export

Download the data collection logs (DEP).
These are required for a cash register inspection (7-year retention obligation). Termination
Complete the final termination of ready2order.

2. Steps in OpenFiskal

Install the OpenFiskal app

Open the OpenFiskal app in the Shopify admin area.

Start live

In the app, click on the banner with the text “Go live.”
Go through the go-live wizard.

Ensure FON connection

Shopify updates can overwrite or break existing snippets – which can make the QR code disappear from receipts.

Steps:

Open the OpenFiskal App in your Shopify admin.
Access the Settings in the menu.
Select Your Country - Germany or Austria.
Scroll to the QR Code Section
For Germany: Embed TSE Fiscal Data
For Austria: Embed RKSV Fiscal Data
Copy the Snippet & Open the Editor - Click Copy - then click Go to Receipt Template Editor right next to it.
Replace the Old Snippet - In the sales-receipt.liquid file, completely delete the old snippet and paste the new snippet in its place.
Click Save - within about 1–2 minutes, the updated template will be automatically applied to all Shopify POS devices.
