The acquisition date is the date on which your company gained access to the Shopify POS cash register system. You must specify this date for each cash register when registering with the tax office, regardless of whether you use POS Lite or Pro.

What counts as the acquisition date?

The acquisition date is the date on which your company was able to start using Shopify POS, i.e.:

either the date on which you added the Shopify POS channel to your store
or the start date of your Shopify contract (if POS was available from the start).

💡 The tax office does not distinguish between Lite and Pro. The decisive factor is when the POS system was made available.

Where can I find the date?

Shopify does not display the acquisition date directly in the admin area. You can use the following information as a guide:

Search your email inbox for a registration confirmation from Shopify.
Check the start date of your Shopify contract on your first invoice.
