All FAQs regarding the OpenFiskal App (Z-reports, CSV exports, and the cash book)

Q1: What exactly is a Z-bon / Z-report and how do I create one?
  • A Z-receipt is a daily report that is required by law. It is automatically created by the OpenFiskal app as soon as you start the cash register session in the Shopify POS app on your device (iPad, etc.) and then close it at the end of the day. Therefore, it is important not to forget to close the cash register session at the end of the day, otherwise the Z-receipt period will carry over to the next day.
  • It cannot be customised, but contains information about the organisation, duration of the cash register session, daily turnover including VAT, daily transactions with details such as vouchers with 0% or items with 7% vs. 19% VAT, and other important data.

Q2: What is the best way to export the data for all my branches to my tax advisor in a CSV file?
  • In the ‘Exports’ section, you can select the DSFinV-K or TSE data, then the time period, and then click on ‘Export’. After a few seconds, you should be able to download the export directly.
  • The cash book can also be exported from the ‘Cash book’ section (requires our OpenFiskal Plus Plan). However, OpenFiskal does not currently offer direct integration with DATEV – for this, we recommend the app from our German Shopify partner, Pathway Solutions.

Q3: What is the cash book and how can I use it?
  • In the cash book, you can record all cash movements in your till in a report for easy tracking. With our OpenFiskal Plus plan, you can also export the entire cash book for your tax advisor. In the ‘OpenFiskal -> Cash book’ section, select the location, till and time period, then click ‘Done’ to view and/or export all cash movements. More information here.
