How to Properly Cancel Your OpenFiskal App Subscription

This ensures that:

the TSE (Germany) or RKSV (Austria) is properly deactivated,
in Austria, a final receipt is generated and the register is deregistered with FinanzOnline,
no additional costs or open obligations remain.

⚠️ Important: Do not simply uninstall the app – otherwise the TSE/RKSV connection stays active (and in Austria even remains registered with FinanzOnline). Check if you have multiple registers or OpenFiskal Plus active – each one needs to be deactivated separately.

Steps to properly cancel

In your Shopify admin - open the OpenFiskal app
Select the register (in "Registers") and choose the register you want to deactivate.
De-fiscalize the register by clicking Menu: More → De-fiscalize register
In Germany: the TSE is properly deactivated.
In Austria: a final receipt is generated and the register is deregistered with FinanzOnline.

Then cancel the subscription (optional)

Once all registers and OpenFiskal Plus (if applicable) are deactivated, you can optionally cancel your app subscription
Admin → Settings → Apps and Sales Channels → Cancel OpenFiskal

👉 This step is not strictly required if de-fiscalization was done correctly – but recommended if you want to stop costs.

⚠️ Key points to remember

Never just uninstall the app! The TSE/RKSV would remain active → costs and compliance issues.
Always de-fiscalize first before shutting down a register.
Deactivate all registers and OpenFiskal Plus (if applicable) separately.
With RKSV, a final receipt is generated and deregistration with FinanzOnline is done automatically.
