The ELSTER register report explained: This is how you upload your XML file.

When you create a register report with Meldefluss, you will receive one or more finished XML files that you can upload to the tax office via ELSTER. Here we show you step-by-step how it works.

Download XML File from Meldefluss - after the last step in the app, you can download the XML file directly.

💾 👉 Save it somewhere where you can easily find it again (e.g., desktop).

Open the ELSTER Portal - go to: https://www.elster.de

Click on “Login” and log in.
Or create a user account if you don’t have one yet:

Open the Form once you’re logged in:

Go to the “Forms & Services” menu.
Then click on “All Forms” and then “Other Forms.”
Search for: “Notification of electronic recording systems § 146a paragraph 4 AO.”
Open the corresponding form.

Upload XML File

In the form, you will find the tab “XML Import.”

→ Select files.

→ Choose the XML file you received from Meldefluss.

→ Confirm the upload.

⚠️ Important: Do not edit the file before uploading. It is already complete and correctly formatted.

Submit and Confirm

After uploading, you can review the details and submit the report:

We are working on enabling the register report to be submitted fully automatically via an ELSTER interface in the future, without manual upload.
