Italy: Activate OpenFiskal extensions on Shopify POS
OpenFiskal adds a few extensions to Shopify POS. The most important one shows the digital receipt with the QR code at checkout; the others add useful tiles to the till's smart grid. We recommend activating all of them: it takes just a few minutes in the Shopify admin.

The Receipts extension at checkout
- Log in to the Shopify admin and go to Sales channels > Point of Sale.
- Click Settings.
- In the "Customization" box click POS App.
- Click the fourth icon in the top left to open the Apps panel.
- Find Receipts by OpenFiskal and flip the switch to ON.

- Click Save in the top right.
From this moment, at the end of every sale the OpenFiskal block appears on its own in the checkout screen: as soon as the receipt is transmitted, it shows the "Receipt fiscalized" confirmation and the QR code.
From here the cashier has everything at hand:
- QR code: turn the screen towards the customer, they scan it with their phone and open the digital receipt, which they can save as a PDF.
- "Print": prints the paper copy if the customer asks for it. How to set up printing and which printers to use: Printing the OpenFiskal receipt.
The smart grid extensions
The other extensions are added as tiles to the smart grid, the Shopify POS homepage. You can do this right after activating Receipts, without leaving the page.
- Click the first icon in the top left to open the smart grid configuration.
- Select the grid page, for example "Page 1".
- Click Add tile.
- Choose Embedded apps, then OpenFiskal.

- Select the extension to add and repeat for every tile you need.

Here's what each one does:
- OpenFiskal: shows the status of the register in use, for example "Register 10 - Fiscalized (RT)". It confirms at a glance that OpenFiskal is active on that device and sales are being transmitted to the Agenzia delle Entrate. Recommended on every till.
- Z-Reports: shows and prints Z-reports (daily closings) directly from the till.
- Codice Lotteria for Italy: lets you enter the customer's lottery code for the receipt lottery.
- Receipts: reopens the last issued receipt. Useful if you closed the checkout without showing the QR code or printing: you retrieve it from here without going back to the order.
- Handoff by OpenFiskal: only needed if you take payments with a SumUp Solo terminal instead of Shopify's readers. If you use WisePad, Shopify POS Terminal, Tap to Pay or your bank's POS, don't add it.

Do you have multiple locations?
Each smart grid template is assigned to one or more locations: you can see this by clicking the three dots next to the template name (for example "Smart grid 1") and then Assign to locations. If your locations use different templates, add the tiles to each template, otherwise some tills will be left without them.
The Receipts extension at checkout, on the other hand, automatically applies to all locations: you activate it once.
If an extension does not appear in Shopify POS
Work through these in order.
- The extension is not saved in the admin. Reopen Point of Sale > Settings and check that the change was saved, not just selected.
- The POS app is still using an old configuration. Close the Shopify POS app completely and reopen it.
- The POS app is out of date. Update it from the App Store or Google Play, then check again.
- Your device is using a different grid template. Check which location the device is logged in to. Then check that the smart grid template you edited is actually the one used by that location.
